Support while I am studying
The University of Otago is committed to supporting all students taking part in this programme.
You will have close contact with the Kaiārahi Māori, who will be your mentor and advocate. You are likely to come in contact with the Kaiārahi Māori during your application process, and you will certainly meet when you arrive on campus in Dunedin in February.
Alongside the Kaiārahi Māori, there is a wide range of cultural, social, pastoral and academic networks that will be available to you. In the centre of the campus, and near where you will be studying, is Te Huka Mātauranga/the Māori Centre. The Centre provides a complementary support network, including extra tutorials with fantastic tutors.
Foundation Year has its own student support structure. On arrival, you will meet the Academic Dean of Students who will guide and assist you in all aspects of your studies: academic achievement, study skills, time management and future career pathways.
The Academic Dean of Students, Simon Chu, has written a welcome letter by way of introduction. To read his letter, click on his photo.
If you have specific questions on the programme, you can email the Kaiārahi Māori, Ms Zoe Bristowe, at tu.kahika@otago.ac.nz.
